Networking Health Victoria (NHV) is a state level organisation working with Victorian Medicare Locals to integrate general practice, primary health care providers and the broader state health system to fulfil the healthcare needs of the Victorian Community.
In 2011, the Commonwealth, state and territory governments signed the National Health Reform Agreement, which introduced Medicare Locals and redirected funding from the Divisions of General Practice program to Medicare Locals.
Medicare Locals are primary health care organisations established to co-ordinate primary health care delivery by connecting services and addressing local health care needs and service gaps.
Funded primarily by the Victorian Department of Health, NHV facilitates a sound and productive working relationship between Victoria’s Medicare Locals, state government and state level organisations.
NHV acts as a secretariat for Victorian Medicare Locals and promotes collaborative partnerships, the establishment of networks and the delivery of programs and projects.
