Nelson Airport is New Zealand’s busiest regional airport. More than one million passengers pass through our terminal on 37,000 flights per year.
We serve four airlines including our national carrier Air New Zealand, Originair, Soundsair and Golden Bay.
Right in the centre of New Zealand, at the top of the South Island, Nelson Airport is the doorstep to the beautiful and thriving Nelson Tasman region and gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park.
And we are much more than an airport. We work closely with local agencies and businesses to support tourism and the growth of the regional economy. We are proud to be a major employer and at the centre of freight and tourism.
We’re home to Air New Zealand’s Regional Maintenance hub which provides world class engineering services to airlines from throughout Australasia and the Pacific.
Nelson Airport’s focus is on constant improvement in everything we do - our customer experience, airline relationships, business partners and employees.
A huge part of that is our investment in redeveloping the airport to meet future growth. Completed is a multi-stage capital works programme that includes a new terminal - a visually stunning, sustainable building featuring locally-sourced timber and designed to reflect the beauty of the region. Visitors will enjoy an intuitive layout, with a larger check-in area and departure lounge, new retail and food spaces, and double the number of toilets.
The redevelopment also includes an already completed redesign of entry roading, new and expanded carparking facilities with smart access and ticketless parking, a new control tower and upgrades to apron and aircraft parking.
