Individuals and families can find their worlds suddenly up-ended by a serious medical condition or other tragedy. We are a non-profit organization created to transform local communities into ready-made networks of support where neighbors are quickly mobilized to help other neighbors during times of crisis.
Our chapters consist entirely of neighborhood volunteers who step in to help where immediate family and friends just can’t do it all, from grocery shopping and meal delivery to car pooling and light house or yard work. Help is delivered quickly, caringly, and completely free of charge with no strings attached.
Neighbor Brigade seeks to foster the growth of volunteer-based chapters to assist neighbors in crises, primarily by providing resources and support to empower chapters to build and sustain local volunteer networks that help families in times of crises, such as illness, serious injury or tragic events. We currently have 28 Chapters in MA, ME, RI and NJ and over 3,000 volunteers.
Neighbor Brigade provides resources for local communities to create and maintain volunteer networks. A Neighbor Brigade local chapter starts with a dedicated leader, the Chapter Leader, who builds the neighborhood volunteer network. Our website contains “how to” tools and information that streamline this process and allow leaders to support one another. Using a simple web-based system, volunteer networks efficiently organize and schedule the necessary services for their neighbors in need.
