Nederlandse Dansdagen is an annual event which will showcase a wide range of dance styles and artists – from up-and-coming choreographers and urban dance makers to world-renowned dance companies from the Netherlands, like Dutch National Ballet and Introdans. Annually the historic city of Maastricht will become the backdrop for the Nederlandse Dansdagen. No better opportunity exists to savor the best that Dutch dance has to offer!
With partners in the Netherlands and abroad, the Nederlandse Dansdagen challenges dance makers to create performances within an exciting context. For example with other disciplines, around urgent social questions and / or within an unusual time set or location. Many of these performances premiere at the festival but can also be seen on other stages throughout the year. In 2014 coproductions were made within the frame of Performing Gender, (OLD)Fashion(ed) and Distinguished Dreams. In 2016 the Distinguished Dreams will show her third edition.
The Nederlandse Dansdagen productions present performances on onorthodox places, within a really short or really long time frame, in combinations with other disciplines, with an urgent social theme and / or with untrained dancers. They offer the audience the possibility to see dance outside the frame of a theatre and to be surprised by unexpected performances. The Nederlandse Dansdagen projects are for an audience that wants to connect with choreographers, that want to think along with them and want to meet the dancers.
