The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services’ (NDCS) mission is to keep people safe. NDCS has a statutory responsibility to keep safe people in the public, people who work for the agency, people who visit its prisons and the people living in its prisons. This is accomplished through sound incarceration practices and daily vigilance.
The department maintains and administers facilities for the custody and control of persons committed to the department.
NDCS operates nine facilities in Nebraska to house convicted persons sentenced to its custody. They are:
- Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW); York, NE
- Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP); Lincoln, NE
- Reception and Treatment Center (RTC); Lincoln, NE
- Community Corrections Center - Lincoln (CCC-L); Lincoln, NE
- Omaha Correctional Center (OCC); Omaha, NE
- Community Corrections Center - Omaha (CCC-L); Omaha, NE
- Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility (NCYF); Omaha, NE
- Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI); Tecumseh, NE
- Work Ethic Camp (WEC); McCook, NE
