National Health Services, Inc., ( NHSI ), formerly the Buttonwillow Health Center, Inc., is a nonprofit corporation which operates eleven sites in the western, northwestern, and northeastern portions of Kern County. The sites are in the communities of Buttonwillow, Lost Hills, Wasco, Taft, Delano, Shafter, Oildale, Ridgecrest, and Tehachapi. All sites operate on a year-round basis, providing a full range of primary and preventive care and supportive services to an under served population, including migrant and seasonal farm workers, in each community and other surrounding areas.
The roots of NHSI were planted in 1978 by the community. The corporation was based on the concept of "Health for All," a comprehensive health care delivery system linked to hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and Federal, State. and local health agencies and other surrounding areas. NHSI received Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) accreditation in 1997.
