Nachshon Program grooms youth to become a leading scientific and technological cadre in the state of Israel. Its pedagogic concepts are based after those of the elite academic-military program, Talpiot. The program takes place in designated classes – Nachshon Classes – in junior high and high schools.
Nachshon classes are excellence classes in junior high- and high schools. Any school that undertakes the program’s principles is eligible to join. Each student is accepted to the classes based on his/her academic achievements, social involvement and contribution to the community, as well as his/her expressed interest in developing leadership skills. The majority of the week is devoted to enhanced scientific studies. In addition, a full day is dedicated to “Nachshon content”. Studies during this day use modern, “active learning” methodologies (peer studies, team studies, self-research and more) while also developing the students’ leadership skills.
Nachshon Center is the body responsible for ongoing development of the educational concepts and educator training. The Center also accompanies the educators, and assists in excursions' logistics. Furthermore, the Center connects Nachshon classes with industry and academy content partners. Current Nachshon content partners include, among others, SpaceIL, the “Talpiot” program, the Milbat NGO and the Soreq Nuclear Research Center.
