The NYU Student Government Assembly is the representative governing body which advocates for all students, across all global sites, schools, and programs at New York University.
The SGA is comprised of three councils, each overseen by a Vice Chairperson, all of whom work closely with the SGA Chairperson to convey student concerns and areas of improvement to the university's senior leadership, through both the office of the President and the University Senate.
The Student Senators Council is comprised of 25 School Senators, representing all graduate and undergraduate schools, and 28 Senators-at-Large, who advocate for marginalized constituencies which are not otherwise represented. The SSC primarily focuses on advocacy efforts and members sit on the University Senate.
The President's Council is made up of 27 Presidents representing individual schools' student councils and 15 Council Presidents representing student constituency councils across NYU. PC works on school wide programming initiatives and collaborates primarily with the Deans Council.
The Global Student Council consists of the Senators and Presidents from NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai, as well as 14 Site Ambassadors for every NYU study abroad location.
Outside of the SGA councils, we have 20+ standing and ad-hoc committees focused on a wide range of topics, such as Alumni Relations, Financial Affairs, Student Sustainability, or Health and Wellness. You can join an open committee at any point during the academic year by filling out the form under the 'Get Involved!' tab on our website.
