The National MS centre at Melsbroek aims to:
Offer integrated and multidisciplinary care to people with MS. Attention will be given to all aspects of the disorder whilst acknowledging that a person with MS is more than his/her sickness. We also strive for an interactive cooperation and communication with the referring doctor, the home care and the surroundings of the person with MS.
Contribute actively and positively to the conservation or recovery of the social role and independence of the person with MS in their environment.
Offer treatment and rehabilitation of people with MS in a scientifically founded manner. The development of new treatments and techniques in association with university and non-university partners will be encouraged.
Play an active role in developing and evaluating quality standards in MS care.
Take part in a national and international network where the person with MS is the central person.
Provide a knowledge and training centre necessary for integrated MS care.
Enable all employees of the centre to be involved in the care for people with MS in an active and constructive manner, with special attention to permanent training and development. The optimum blend of efficiency and work satisfaction will be pursued.
