Based in Arkhangelsk,Russia and named after M.V. Lomonosov, the Northern (Arctic) Federal University is one of the leading educational institutions in the European North.
NArFU is North-West Russia’s major educational institution
established by RF Presidential Edict of 21 October 2009, on the base of Arkhangelsk State Technical University is a university founded in 1929.
In October 2010, the University’s 2020 Development Program was
approved by the Government Executive Order.
The concept of this University relies on the unique potential
of the northern region – its rich historic past, the 'forest and the
Arctic' present and the 'offshore' future.
NArFU incorporates 21 institutes and 2 colleges.
NArFU currently has:
– over 23 thousand students;
– 330 PhD students;
– 3100 course participants;
– 1300 lecturers.
NArFU is a member of Russia’s Leading Universities
Association, which comprises two national, nine federal and
29 national research universities.
