Munky King designer toys are a special collaboration between the company and the artist. Developed closely from concept to production, the final product is always loyal to the original artwork. We've worked with such renown artists as Luke Chueh, Joe Ledbetter, Kozyndan, Amanda Visell, COOP, and DabsMyla to name a few.
Our platform toy, the Omi, blurs the line between toy and fine art with its unique display options. Inspired by Chinese opera masks, Omi takes a traditional form and infuses it with a designer toy aesthetic. Along with a DIY version, we work with licenses to create crossover series.
Munky King started from humble beginnings in 2003 with a quaint little shop in Chinatown LA, the first designer toy store in Southern California. After expanding to a gallery and flagship store on Melrose, we continued to fuel the passions of the genre with art shows, signings, releases and special events.
We've since closed our retail locations to focus on expanding our line of toys and working with companies and artists to develop their own products. Our product catalog contains overs 30 sold-out SKUs.
Munky King also develops and produces animated content to bring bring our artists' work to another medium. We are currently in production of a series of shorts called "Grief Encounters", based on the work of Luke Chueh.
In 2017, Munky King launched a new creative space for the design community, featuring a gallery, studios, workstations, media lab, 3D prototyping, and more. Our goal is to give independent artists a place to create and showcase their work.
Munky King is actively seeking partnerships with those who share our vision: to empower people with the tools to follow their muse and forge new and unexpected paths.
