Møreforsking Research Institute has 40 years of experience in researching the ocean and society. We are passionate about using our expertise in marine research to support our region and create value for society. We do this by delivering research, development, studies and advice to business, public administration, organizations and others who need knowledge. We are closely attuned to the needs, challenges, and resources in our own region, and conduct research that meets global and national strategies and initiatives.
We have researchers in place in Ålesund, Molde and Kristiansund, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. These are divided into two research groups:
Sustainable Sea and Coast works with research related to the coastal zone such as sustainable resources, ecosystem, habitats, species diversity, coastal zone management, fisheries, harvesting, aquaculture, new species, integrated aquaculture, fish health and fish welfare.
Seafood Processing works with total utilization of marine raw materials and research that will create the highest possible value, such as product quality, chemical composition and characterization, sensory, quality documentation, health effects, nutritional content, environmental toxins, consumer preferences and branding.
Our laboratory Mørelab has equipment for chemical and molecular biological analyzes and processing of marine raw materials.
