Founded in 1954 as The Mount Vernon Community Park and Playground Association on eight acres of land donated by St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, the current park sits on 13.2 acres of land located at the corner of Fairfax Road and Lafayette Drive in Alexandria, Virginia.
On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the Board of Directors opens the park, continuing over 60 years of ongoing operation with a schedule of park-sponsored children’s and adult activities, NVSL Team Swimming and adult and junior tennis teams. The Park also holds other activities and events, including aqua aerobics, an early morning master swim group, annual July 4th Celebration, Annual Crab Feast, Wine Tastings, Beer & Chili Cook-Off, Food Truck events, Family Camp Outs and over a dozen children’s activities/events.
