Nesma ( which is a lead partner of TNC Consortium ) has been awarded the Contract for “Procurement, Operation and Maintenance” of Makkah Bus Project Phase 1. The duration of the Project is Design and Construction of the O&M facility in 18 months; followed by Operation and Maintenance for 8.5 years.
The project involves “Design and Construction” of the Depot: which consists of 7 operation buildings & administration block; and Accommodation zone for 1400 staff.
The “Procurement Scope” is a supply of 400 German buses (MAN) ( 240 standard buses of 12m and 160 articulated buses of 18m ) and supply of On-board & Off-board ITS ( Intelligent Transportation System ) equipment as per the latest technology.
The On-board ITS equipment are: Voice Radio Communications, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) / Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Automatic Passenger Counters (APC), Automated Annunciation System (AADS), Electronic Fare Payment System ( Validators ) and Onboard Cameras.
The Off-board ITS equipment are: Electronic Payment System ( TVMs & PoS ), VoIP Terminals, Non-Revenue Vehicles, Bus in a Box, Maintenance Management System (ORACLE), Driver Simulator, Trip Planner Application, Web-Based Hand-Held RTPI Application, GIRO-Hastus scheduling and planning software, Vehicle Component Monitoring System and Paper cast screens on all the bus stops.
The “Operation Scope” includes the operation of 400 buses on 12 routes with a total length of 565 km covering 500 bus stops all around the Holy city of Makkah Al Mukarramah for a period of 8.5 years.
The “Maintenance Scope” is the maintenance of the buses, ITS, 500 bus shelters and Facility Management of the Depot and Accommodation for a period of 8.5 years.
