Non-profit organization with a mission to provide Guatemalans living in extreme poverty with opportunities to help themselves through educational, vocational, and other sustainable development projects.
Miracles in Action seeks out under-served pockets of need in rural Guatemala and we research projects that focus on education, vocational training, and sustainable development. We select projects that achieve long-term results, improve quality of life, and allow truly impoverished people to help themselves. We believe in working in partnership with poor Guatemalan people, giving them a hand up, instead of a hand-out. We also strongly believe that education is the surest way out of poverty, and so devote much of our efforts in that direction. 100% of donations go to our projects; our small overhead is paid for through handicraft sales and special supporters who underwrite these costs.
Primarily we link donors and supporters to project needs in Guatemala. We work with in-country partners to oversee these projects. We personally visit projects and partners to ensure donations are used appropriately and with a goal of long-term impact. Major projects include school construction, safe stoves, water filters and water projects, and student scholarships. We also have some projects in nutrition and which address core issues of malnutrition.
