The Ministry of Health was established in 1921, and in 1926 the first law was issued to organize health affairs, and this situation continued until 1939, when the Health Department joined the Ministry of Interior until an independent Ministry of Health was established in 1950 under the name of the Ministry of Health. In 1966, Public Health Law No. (43) was issued and it was amended by virtue of Public Health Law (No. 21 of 1971), where the latter was amended several times until Public Health Law No. 47 of 2008 was issued, according to which the Ministry regulates health matters in the Kingdom.
Health in the era of the emirate
We provide this quick overview of the health situation before the establishment of the emirate so that we can infer and quote the health and medical development in the period from 1921 to 1946.

The first government hospital was established in 1921, and the number of beds in it was (20) beds.
The founder of the first health organization in Jordan, Dr. Halim Abu Rahma, in 1925 and remained in this center until 1939.
The first law regulating health affairs was issued during the era of the emirate by the Council of Advisors under the title (Law relating to hospital medicine) in 1923.
On February 16, 1924, His Highness Prince Abdullah approved the list of conditions for establishing the Italian Salt Hospital. The expenditures of the Health Department for the year 1924/1925 were (4991) pounds.
The central laboratory was established for the first time in Jerusalem in 1924.
The first pharmacy was opened in 1925 in Amman.
The first comprehensive law regulating health affairs in the emirate was issued in 1926, the Health Law of 1926, and this law continued to operate until 1971.
