On July 26, 2013 the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Georgia signed a second Compact. The $140 million Compact seeks to assist Georgia in addressing its major constraint to economic growth by supporting strategic investments in general education, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and higher education that will strengthen the quality of education with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines. MCC’s second compact is the largest current investment in the field of education in Georgia.
The Government of Georgia has created Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia (MCA-Georgia) to implement the MCC’s second compact. MCA-Georgia is a legal entity for public law accountable to the MCC and the Government of Georgia led by a Supervisory Board chaired by the Prime Minister of Georgia and comprising of the ministers of Education and Science, Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Justice.
