Metrino Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) – AN INNOVATIVE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM FOR CITIES Metrino PRT is fully automatic, driver-less pods that travel independently suspended under an overhead network of light guide-ways, 5 to 10 meters above street-level. All rides are on passenger demand, so there are no timetables and no predefined routes. Pods are usually waiting for passengers at many small stops along the network, in shopping centres, offices, hotels, hospitals, schools etc. Since there are more pods than average daily demand for them, you almost never have to wait! Ticket costs are similar to that of current public transport and much less than using private cars. How so? The cheaper cost is possible because of the drastic reduction in costs of energy requirements, maintenance and staffing, as well as less expensive infrastructure, when compared to metros or even bus or tramways. METRINO avoids all of the problems inherent in current city transport systems. At the same time all economic and functional parameters are vastly improved in comparison to buses, tramways metros or light rail. It is also far less expensive and much quicker to build & install than any other infrastructure. The entire system is fully controlled and automated by an intelligent, distributed computer network which ensures safety and security of all vehicle movement and of passengers at the stops and in vehicles.
