Memribox is a social tech start-up based in Auckland, New Zealand.
We are a team of visionaries and entrepreneurs with a mission to create innovative and scalable solutions to enable cross-generational communication in the digital age.
We recognise that on a global scale, cultures are at risk of losing their heritage if their stories are not preserved. We have developed our vision around preserving oral history by adapting the storytelling tradition for the digital age. We want to turn technology from a barrier into a bridge so that families and communities can connect through meaningful content co-creation and use technology to the bridge generation gap.
We began as “Legacy Online New Zealand” when we won the University of Auckland’s Spark Ideas Challenge. We then went on to become a finalist in the $100K Challenge. Following the success from Spark, the team has gone from strength to strength. We successfully competed in the Microsoft Imagine Cup in 2014 and was runner-up in the World Citizenship category in New Zealand.
Since our inception, we have successfully implemented several community initiatives including “Legacy Day” where we invite seniors from the community to share stories about their heritage. We are currently working on the Android beta of the Memribox app for mobile & tablet devices, community events, as well as our special ANZAC Day 2015 Documentary, scheduled to be launched next year as a transmedia online & offline exhibition.
