Medy Health is a digital health startup and is in early stages, currently running a pilot for Doctor Medy. Doctor Medy offers video conference and telephone consultations with GMC registered Doctors to residents within the UK.
Medy Health was founded in 2015 by a group of GP’s and Digital specialists. It supports the transition towards patient self-management and patient centred care. The Medy vision is to support the UK National Health Service by offering fast track services to medical and health professionals.
The remote advice pilot is enabling a test and learn approach for the development of Medy Health’s health service offering. At the start of the pilot feedback was collected via a questionnaire around providing remote GP services.
To ensure Medy Health is being socially responsible they developed a relationship with the University of Sussex to enable greater insights into the mobile health and wellbeing space. Their first research project was kicked off in July 2016 with the aim of - "Understanding how we can prepare individuals to be in charge of their health and wellbeing through self-management and awareness", and "Identifying in what way can the healthcare professional build a proactive approach to support this new era of mobile health technology."
The research is now taking a deeper dive into self management and behaviour change – specifically asking questions such as:
1. What are people’s perceptions of self-management?
2. Do people really want to self-manage their health and well-being? And if so why?
3. What are the constraints and enablers of self-management?
Medy Health has recently been joined by a qualified Chartered Psychologist and in January 2017 they will offer remote Mental Health consultations with an appropriately qualified Medy professional (psychologist, therapist, counsellor, mental health specialist).
