The Medicine Hat Women's Shelter Society has been providing direct service to abused women and their children since 1982. We provide safe housing, wrap around supports and advocacy for women and children affected by family violence. Programs and services include:
* 24 Hour Crisis Line
* Phoenix Safe House - 21-day emergency shelter and wrap around supports for women and children fleeing family violence. Accommodates up to 24 women and children.
* Musasa House - one year second stage shelter and support for up to 10 families.
* Children's support program - One-on-one counselling, groups and support for children exposed to family violence.
*Outreach Program - Support for women and children living in the community who have experienced family violence.
* Women's Support Groups - for women impacted by family violence.
* Youth Support Group - For youth aged 13 to 18 exposed to family violence.
* Children's Support Group - For children aged 5 - 12 exposed to family violence.
* Public Education and Awareness - Information and education for our community: schools, community groups, service organizations, other helping agencies, and the general public.
