Laboratory Information System Specialist
Immediate Supervisor – Lab Manager
Requirements
5 years experience in an IT related field
Excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to interact with management and staff
Ability to work alone, set priorities, problem solve, self starter, etc.
Adheres to Medical Edge, policies and procedures to include personnel policies, safety policies and clinical policies and procedures
Function
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager (and Director) oversees the daily operations of the laboratory information system including data entry, troubleshooting, interface installation, computer system upgrades.
Must have a high standard of customer service.
Principle Responsibilities of Position
Have the ability to work alone, unsupervised.
Ensure efficient and effective workflow, as well as a high level of customer service at all times.
Work daily IT tickets assigned to the lab to complete.
Work with the Clinical Lab Manager to Implement and maintain equipment interfaces.
Provide reports with regular feedback for all computer issues discovered in the lab to Lab Manager.
Comply and maintain HIPPA regulations
Maintains lab computer PCs, cleaning up added programs when needed.
Assists Lab Manager with completing daily computer duties including the match que of results.
Enter new tests and maintain the test database in the system.
Enter new insurances and maintain the insurance database in the system.
Enter new employees into the system and delete terminated employees.
Assist Lab Director at the ACC lab when needed.
Manages appropriately with IT on server related problems with the lab system.
Manages appropriately with IT on printer/hardware related problems in the lab.
Perform other duties as required.
