Human society is immersed in a vast network of communicated information. Our technologies have become mobile, our story-making fragmentary, our impressions of meaning dynamic. How can we benefit from these changes, while navigating and engaging with these aspects of the modern life? The BA Degree awarded by MVC will educate students in how to shape threads of meaning to form a rich tapestry of creative story potentials, meaningful dialogues and storytelling.
Traditional disciplines such as Fine Art Printmaking and Typography regain significance in the context of the contemporary design studio where students interact with new and dynamic conditions at the formative stage of their education. We have created a modern curriculum integrating time-honoured crafts with the potentials of modern technology.
The power of new media has transformed the nature of design practice by bringing the client closer to the design process. During students’ second and third year, our curriculum provides core courses intended to make students engage with new media, parallel with, and complementary to, established conventions in design.
Year 4 students, in preparation for their future role as designers, will create strong narrative driven concepts to refine into Major Graduation Projects. Projects may cover disciplines such as photography, animation and moving image or on-screen design such as tangible interfaces.
