Maya Maria is a consultant for creating relationships and communities that are safe and supportive of survivors of sexual violence.
I work with partners, families and friends of survivors to help you understand what survivors might be going through, and learn positive ways to communicate about needs and boundaries in your relationships. I also work with you to figure out what you need. We'll identify what is within your control and what is not, and make sure you are supported in your own process. It’s okay for this to be difficult you, too. Our work can help make the healing process not just manageable, but powerful and meaningful for you and the survivors in your life.
I also lead Survivor Conscious workshops in workplaces and community spaces. Together, we raise awareness about the impacts that sexual violence can have on individuals and communities, and build empathy for what survivors in your community might be living with. We cultivate tools for your community to be more supportive of survivors, empowering participants to be leaders of positive cultural change.
I am available for in-person events and trainings throughout much of the United States and Canada. I am available to speak as both a survivor of sexual violence sharing my story, and a specialist in working issues around sexual violence. My training as a Drama Therapist, and many years working in theater, allow me to lead workshops and trainings that are interactive, engaging and powerful. I offer a variety of exercises and activities to help participants engage with the subject of sexual violence, and explore how we as individuals and as communities can support survivors.
