Matthew Lloyd Architects are an award winning RIBA Chartered Practice based in Shoreditch, East London, who have won recognition for sensitive, innovative, contextual architecture in urban settings. We have a track record over more than two decades in housing, places of worship, workspace, schools, nurseries, youth and community centres, often in a mix of uses on one site. The practice is led by three partners, who maintain a close involvement in all projects: our team offers in-depth, time-served skills, and a genuine desire to direct our services to meet the wishes of our clients.
We regard ourselves as contextual architects: our projects are grounded in their unique place, both in terms of the people who derive meaning from them, and their local character, setting and history. We listen to people, and facilitate their productive involvement. We design to make the most of space available in all dimensions, whilst understanding value and budget goals. We help to make lovely places for people to enhance their activities and fulfil their potential, aiming for generous and uplifting spaces. We design to make dwellings well proportioned, with good natural daylight and privacy, and safe, friendly places to live, work and visit: observing and reinforcing street patterns and clearly defining open space for natural surveillance.
