Matter Dance

Matter Dance Company believes dance should be created for the audience as well as the dancers. We pride ourselves on our unique perspectives on dance and performance while continuing to strive to be accessible and entertaining! Matter Dance Company was founded by Carisa Barreca and Gail Adduci Gogliotti who have been collaborating for over 15 years and is currently directed by Barreca, Adduci Gogliotti, and Niki Wilk Mahon. MDC has been featured in Dance Chicago, Around the Coyote Festival, Open House Dance Collective and the Chicago Women’s Funny Festival. Additionally MDC has choreographed and danced for local music videos and worked with companies like Samsung, Farmers Insurance, and City Souls in their local Commercial. Matter Dance Company has been named the ”Best Dance Company” by the Chicago Reader (Reader’s Choice) for six years in a row and Barreca was named “Best Choreographer” twice. Matter Dance is a not-for-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
