Martindale’s was established in 1869 and is known as the first health food store and natural market in the US. We specialize in organic, local, gluten-free foods along with natural food supplements Philadelphia's own Thomas Martindale, merchant, civic leader, big game hunter, and author founded our market. His son, Thomas C. Martindale, began importing diabetic foods in 1909 while working in his father’s business. The public became conscious of the need to choose healthy food which led to health food stores being in demand. Find only fresh organic produce here.
