Born from a social mission, the "Made in." brand is the first product launched under the social enterprise movement Made 4 Change, which provides high quality heritage or hometown pride apparel for adults, children and babies. The concept of the Made in brand has been to encourage socially conscious individuals to be proud of their heritage or hometown by showing off their pride and in turn, they help someone else be as proud of their origin or country. This movement was started by our founder, Nadia Shash, who is passionate about giving back by providing practical consumer goods designed to achieve sustainable profitable growth. In turn, all the profits supports the mission of linking orphans and vulnerable children to educational resources needed to help them thrive and improve their quality of life.
In October 2014, Nadia started a journey hoping to change her life as well as the lives of others. A lot took place that year – including a journey back to her birthplace of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - that impacted her greatly and made her rethink her course in life. During this time, one thing became clear: she wanted to impact the lives of orphans and vulnerable children living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia. For those who know her, Nadia is an attorney by trade, but has always been fascinated by the idea of social entrepreneurship. With that in mind, she began the next chapter of her life and Made in was born.
For our company and founder, this is just the beginning of living a life much bigger than us. Jim Wallis once said, "The great thing about social movements is everybody gets to be a part of them." So, we would like to thank you in advance for being a part of this important movement and supporting us through your purchase.
