MABIT is an independent, business-focused R&D program operating in the marine biotechnology sector in northern Norway. MABIT is specifically dedicated to the increase in value of marine resources, but is also open to biotechnology projects from other sectors.
MABIT is the only regional, discipline-oriented funding program in Norway.
MABIT'S MAIN OBJECTIVE:
-To assist in increasing the value of the fishery, aquaculture and biotechnology industries.
-To serve as an active driver and coordinator for strengthening R&D and industrial activities within the marine biotechnology sector in the region of northern Norway.
MABIT PROGRAM MUST:
-finance industry-relevant R&D projects that can lead to commercial product development
-maintain a high level of professional activities
-show clear results in terms of industrial innovation in marine biotechnology
-contribute to the development of professional competence relevant to biotechnological business activities
-obtain at least 30% of program funding from industry actors
-use regional competence to promote marine biotechnology as a national focus area
