Dit jaar viert Minebea Intec een speciale verjaardag in zijn Aachen faciliteit, markering van 70 jaar metaaldetectie. In 1948 begon het bedrijf Dr. Hans Boekels GmbH & Co. met de ontwikkeling van civiele metaaldetectoren en legde daarmee de basis voor een succesverhaal dat kon bloeien. De eerste producten waren metaaldetectoren voor open mijnbouw. Het doel was om niet-ontplofte munitie en bommen, opgepikt door bruinkool graafmachines, op te sporen. In 1998 verwierf Sartorius AG het Boekels bedrijf. De naam werd veranderd in Minebea Intec na de bedrijfsovername door de MinebeaMitsumi Group in 2016.
