Marmara Dolomit A.Ş. was acquired in 2016 by Çakırlar Madencilik ve İnşaat Sanayi A.Ş., one of the leading mining companies in the Marmara region that was founded in 1948. Today, Marmara Dolomit A.Ş. is acting with the vision of becoming a regional leader in the dolomite mining sector. Dolomite is produced in our quarries on Marmara Island in the province of Balıkesir. It is processed in our facilities and put at the service of the domestic and foreign industry. Dolomite produced in these quarries is prepared and shipped according to the specific demands of the industry. Marmara Dolomit A.Ş. supplies Şişecam’s flat glass factory in Bursa/Turkey and Paşabahçe EAD factory in Bulgaria, Düzcecam’s flat glass factory in Düzce/Turkey, and Cedar Glass’ glassware factory in Egypt. The company is also working on the manufacturing of dolomite to meet the demands of glassware factories in Istanbul. Our facilities have a production capacity of approximately 700,000 tonnes; 300,000 tonnes of glass quality dolomite production capacity and 400,000 tonnes of aggregate production capacity for other sectors. Marmara Island has a port open to international shipping at 100 meters distance to mine preparation facilities that can accommodate 3000 tonnes vessels where both bulk loading and bulk bag loading are possible. Within 6 months, a new international port with support up to 10,000 tonnes vessels will become operational. Shipments are only made after the glass grade dolomite production is certified by the quality control & security laboratory in our facilities.
