In 1968, a six-acre tract of land was purchased from James Campbell at the intersection of the By-Pass (now Campbell Boulevard) and the Pulaski Pike. The largest showroom and service facility in Maury County was then constructed and the official opening day was in September 1968. Many additions and improvements have been added over the years. The present facilities encompass nearly 50,000 sqaure feet on eight acres of land.
Harold Lucas was born and reared in Memphis, Tennessee. He entered the automobile business upon graduation from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He worked his way through Graduate School selling automobiles. Upon graduation, he entered the Navy, serving four years in active duty and six years in the Reserve, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Upon leaving active duty he moved to Nashville, Tennessee and became the General Manager of a large Ford dealership. In 1960, he became the Vice President and General Manager of R.L Parnell CO., the Chrysler-Plymouth distributor for Middle Tennessee.
In 1965, he purchased Dowling-Womble Chevrolet Co. in Columbia, Tennessee. In 1968, new facilities were constructed at the intersection of Campbell Boulevard and U.S. Highway 31 South. In 1970, he finalized purchasing all of stock held by James Dowling and became sole owner of Lucas Chevrolet Cadillac Inc.
