After my daughter, Olivia, was diagnosed with T1D in August of 2019, when she was only 3 years old, our world was rocked. It took an emotional and physical toll on us all, including my other child, who at the time was only 8 years old. The little moments had to change, the big moments had to change, and we always had to be on high alert because this was not a condition that ever was fully under control.
Shortly after her diagnosis, I looked at her, promised her that together, we would change the options out there, change the conversation and give people better and more equal ways to celebrate. No one needs the sugar in cakes, donuts, cookies, or cupcakes. It is not just dangerous for those with a life-threatening condition, it is detrimental to all our health. Someone might go as far as to say that this is another pandemic that we are all fighting. We quickly built a company, designed to deliver fresh and packaged baked indulgences, absent of all major allergens, free of sugar and gluten, low in carbs but made with the world’s best ingredients.
As we explored what to call this, we went back to the why we did this. Olivia wanted to gift the world with goodness, celebrations, color and equality of nutrition. No one deserves to be singled out in social situations for their health or dietary restrictions, and in her mind, everyone deserves to be the same. So, this is a gift from her. We hope one day to impact many more lives than the ones in our house, and together, we can create a better outcome (one that tastes insane too)
Love,
Sarah [and Liv]
