Since 1966, Longleat has been home to a menagerie of exotic and exciting animals; in both the Safari Drive-Through and the Animal Discovery Area. Experience the majesty of Longleat’s animals moving freely across hundreds of acres of land; including zebra, giraffe, tigers, rhino, flamingo, and of course Longleat’s famous lions.
Visitors can explore and interact with animals in the Jungle Kingdom and Animal Adventure. Here you can find the UK’s first meerkat walkthrough, free-roaming penguins on Penguin Island and feeding opportunities in the rainbow lorikeets’ aviary. There is also a chance for visitors to enjoy hands-on encounters with snakes, tarantulas and other creepy crawlies!
A visit wouldn’t be complete without a stroll around the House. Built by Sir John Thynne, Longleat House was substantially completed by 1580 and is the current home to the 7th Marquess of Bath and three generations of the Thynne family. As well as being packed with priceless antiques; the abundance of flair that the House exudes will capture imaginations of those young, and young at heart, with its wonderful treasures and heirlooms including early manuscripts, magnificent paintings, exquisite Flemish tapestries and opulent interiors.
