Our mission is to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest in youth and save lives through community education and awareness events, promoting youth heart screenings, awarding student scholarships and donating automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to youth-based organizations.
Living for Zachary was founded in honor of Zachary Schrah, who was only 16 years old when he collapsed during a high school football practice on April 2, 2009. There were no warnings or signs. SCA is known as a 'silent killer' because most people who suffer from it are completely unaware of potential heart conditions. After Zachary's death, Living for Zachary was founded as a non-profit organization to raise awareness of undiagnosed heart issues in youth.
