Founded by 1948 by former US Secretary Of State Edward Stettinius with a diverse group American and Liberian sponsors and investors.
Early ventures included operation of the Port Of Monrovia, the ship registry and the financial institution now known as IB (Liberia) .
Initial agricultural projects included Cocoa & Coffee Plantation crops (COCOPA). After Stettinius’s death, Juan Trippe, Chairman of Pan American World Airways served as Chairman of the Liberia Company. By 1988, the ownership group had financed or arranged financing of 7,500 acres of rubber and other agricultural crops.
