About
The Legal Justice Affairs Advisory Council was established by Directive No. 24/2010 in June 2018. The Advisory Council is mandated with advising the Attorney General’s Office of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia in matters of reforming the legal and justice system in a way that is compatible with constitutional principles relating to human rights, democracy and rule of law.
The Advisory Council is composed of thirteen prominent lawyers who were appointed by the Attorney General to assist in the legal and justice system reform because of their vast experience and expertise.
In the execution of its mandate the Advisory Council established and staffed two main compartments; the Secretariat and the Working Groups. The Secretariat is staffed to lead on providing technical and administrative support to the working group and the Advisory Council. While the Working Groups are composed of volunteer legal and other prominent professionals from different fields of specialty who would undertake research on these laws and propose recommendations for amendment.
