Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers, Inc. (LCL) is a private, nonprofit Massachusetts organization. As the state’s sole lawyer assistance program, we are committed to helping lawyers, judges, law students and their families handle the high demands of the legal profession through our FREE and CONFIDENTIAL services.
LCL Clinicians help clients improve their ability to function while experiencing any form of personal, mental health, addiction or medical problem.
LCL Clinicians provide advice on career and family difficulties, stress, burnout, depression, anxiety, as well as alcoholism, substance abuse, gambling and all other forms of addiction.
For individual attorneys, LCL services include assessment, time-limited counseling, referral, probation monitoring and support groups.
LCL provides resources and programming to educate lawyers on self-care, stress management, and mental health and addiction problems.
For the recovering legal community, LCL offers a support network of recovering alcoholic and drug dependent lawyers and judges who wish to carry the message of sobriety to members of the profession.
However, LCL is not Alcoholics Anonymous. Nor is it an outpatient treatment program, employment agency, or lawyer referral office. Nonetheless, all of these services can be accessed through LCL’s extensive resources.
Through our Law Office Management Assistance Program, we offer resources, programming, and personal consultations with Law Practice Advisors on best practices for managing their firms and careers.
LCL works independently, yet cooperatively, with the Supreme Judicial Court, the Board of Bar Overseers, state and local bar associations and the bar at large.
