In 1957, Pierre Gevaert befriended Georges Ohsawa, founder of macrobiotics. At the time, few people questioned what was on their plates. Pierre did, and with him grew the idea of promoting a healthy diet that respected the Yin and Yang principles of balance.Because a healthy diet, together with a good eating habit and a healthy attitude to life, largely determine your quality of life.
This is how Lima® was born in 1957. Named after Georges' wife, Lima® Ohsawa. A year later, Lima® baked its first sourdough bread and introduced rice cakes, whole grain flakes, Miso and tamari, all prepared with care and respect for nature and the environment. Lima® foods are good for people, good for the planet and a true delight for the taste buds.
Meanwhile, their range has expanded to include a Lima® product for every moment of the day such as cookies, breakfast cereals, hot and vegetable drinks, cereals, pasta, soups, spices, seasonings and many other organic products.
Lima® has refused any compromise on quality for 55 years. That is why Lima® has its own laboratory where they carry out more than 15,000 checks each year to ensure that quality is in line with our ethos. We go far beyond the standards imposed. That's why our specifications were used as the basis for the European specifications for organic food.
