For over 50 years, L.A. GOAL has been fostering inclusion for Los Angeles-area adults with developmental disabilities. Our educational programs empower them to live healthy, productive, independent lives—and demonstrate how life is simply better when people with developmental disabilities are a part of it.
Building on five decades of success, we work with adults with all types of developmental disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy with the singular goal of helping every member to reach their highest potential. We love sharing the right training in a nurturing and supportive environment so our members can proudly accomplish great things!
Our day programs include vocational training in visual arts (weaving, sewing, embroidery, fine art, ceramics, greeting cards), custodial work, and office job readiness. When members show an interest in or aptitude for one of these programs, they apprentice in the program for 6-9 months. As they show job etiquette and a drive to work, they can be hired into permanent positions within the community.
We also offer a wide range of enrichment classes, including:
• Health and wellness (dance, yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba, healthy cooking)
• Music therapy and counseling (self-expression, communication, motor skills)
• Performing arts (drama, music)
• Life skills (house cleaning, personal grooming, laundry, grocery shopping, using public transportation)
• Adult education (math, reading, writing, using money, reading maps, telling time)
• Social (Bingo, movies, healthy snacks, activities)
• Leadership (our peer-elected board helps govern the agency and plan events)
