Kore Asian Media traces its roots back to 1990, when it was founded by Jung Shig Ryu, and his son, current co-publisher James Ryu, under the name KoreAm Journal.
What first started as a news tabloid aiming to give a voice to the local Korean American community grew into a glossy magazine featuring celebrities, leaders and newsmakers of the day. In 2003, the brand branched out to include Audrey, a bi-monthly sister publication written from the perspective of the Asian American woman. KoreAm and Audrey printed their final issue in fall of 2015.
Now an online hub, Kore — still operated inside the same Gardena warehouse where it first began 25 years ago — produces relevant videos and news stories focusing on Asian America, from entertainment and politics to sports, culture and the community, with the support of parent company London Trust Media.
