Giving to Others:
Our history and corporate culture are intrinsically tied to the etymology of our name. Kokua is a Hawaiian word meaning, "giving to others for their benefit." Additionally, Kokua was also the name of the building in Tokyo where the Chartres Lodging Group had their first office.
When Chartres decided to establish an independent management company with the flexibility and operational expertise needed to serve both owners and guests - Kokua and its meaning of giving to others seemed the perfect way to communicate our mission and philosophy.
