Keep Vietnam Clean & Green is a new project and our goal is to raise awareness about the litter & trash issue in Vietnam. We think that the way to raise awareness is by educating people and being proactive through community clean-ups. We noticed that there were groups of people doing the same thing, but in different cities in Vietnam. Phu Quoc, Saigon, and Hoi An all had community clean-ups. This got us thinking- if we all joined together under one name, we could raise more awareness nationwide and make a bigger impact.
Keep Vietnam Clean & Green has recently merged with Green Ribbon, a project running in Saigon out of RMIT for the past 2 years and already have a big following. What they’ve been doing is handing out Green Ribbons for people to tie on their motorbike or backpack, and it then signifies that the person has pledged to not litter. As well as raising awareness through these Green Ribbons, Green Ribbon has targeted education as a key factor in preventing litter. We will keep this Green Ribbon idea and give out green ribbons at the clean-ups. We will also promote this Green Ribbon idea at local schools to help raise awareness.
