Architecture and design led, sustainable modular building solutions company.
The construction industry has not changed much over the last 50 years. It needs to reboot to serve the global housing demand. Over 1 million people move to cities every week globally. About 1.6 billion people live in substandard housing and 100 million are homeless, according to UN statistics.
The high quality and design, movable and affordable housing solution by Kodasema addresses this pressing global problem.
The KODA house designed by Estonian company Kodasema has created a modular movable dwelling to provide affordable housing. The dwelling includes the amenities of a modern residence: a living area, bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and occupies only 26 square meters. The house is built off-site and delivered as a whole - turn key, there is no assembly on site.
After connecting to utilities, the house can be occupied immediately. Installation requirements include a level footing, e.g. supports of concrete blocks or otherwise and connection points for water, electricity and sewage.
KODA as an easily movable multifunctional home, office or commercial rental space provides an excellent way of aesthetically enriching our cities whilst using temporarily or permanently empty urban land or even flat rooftops. KODA is easy to set up, using any number of KODA houses as building blocks.
The traditional classification of buildings based on their functions is outdated. Therefore KODA design contains everything necessary within the space, and that it can be quickly changed – this is the meaning of contemporary dynamic spaces.
Factory constructed KODA houses leave a smaller footprint in terms of transport pollution, worker injuries, construction waste and urban noise.
A building that can be uninstalled, moved, and re-installed can provide communities with more flexibility to relocate as needed. People’s mental and physical well-being increases significantly when having
