Paulose started his career as a social worker teaching art in remote villages in Tamil Nadu, India. Paulose Kollamparambil Joseph was a first generation college graduate whose 'Malayalee' parents settled in the Blue Mountains of southern India (The Nilgiris); the second youngest among 7 siblings, he had a unique personality right from a very young age; getting top grades in school and impressing everyone with his artistic abilities. His talent got noticed by the local catholic church which sponsored his high school and college.
"Teaching art has been the most satisfying experience for me" says Poulose K Joseph, a multifaceted visual artist and illustrator. Despite his very humble origin, he designed emblems for various institutions even while at high school. He graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts (a 5 year practical training program) from Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai, India.
"I have forayed into visual art, watercolor, portraits, caricatures and illustrations for print media" says Poulose K J. He taught high schoolers in India and the Republic of Maldives for nearly three decades, where he coached his students for the prestigious Cambridge University examinations. And many of his students’ entries were recognized and appreciated in the UK.
The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Maldives has recognized Poulose for his services and the Ministry of External Affairs of India also recognized him for being the best art-coordinator in Maldives.
"Even with the onslaught of digital-media in every art form, I have always felt that it is the personal touch that matters in creating art and imparting art education. Each student should be inspired and made into a camera that captures their imagination onto a medium in the most fitting way; there lies the responsibility of a good artist and art teacher,” he says.
Poulose also recently celebrated his 6th anniversary as a proud Walmart associate. He presently lives and works out of Bentonville, Arkansas.
