Have you ever wondered what happens to a tree when it comes down in one of our cities. Chances are it gets ground into wood chips, losing the chance to sequester all that carbon and the value it held as a key part of the fabric of our communities. Considering 25% of all our hardwood needs could come from the urban setting, Woodsy is enabling us to rethink the way we source material and through this process, use it as an avenue to reconnect with nature.
Thanks to powerful collaborations with developers like TAS, we’re now making this possible and are actively converting urban wood into tables, desks, educational kits, and other collaborative items for Torontonians.
We rely on efficient technologies and processes to keep costs and impact low and our social business model is simple - we take the revenue and circle it right back into our neighbourhoods by partnering with others to grow more trees and raise awareness about our vital, and very fascinating urban forest.
Just be Woodsy!
