James Bay Cree Communications Society is a Cree language radio broadcaster servicing the Cree communities of Mistissini, Oujebougamau, Nemaska, Waswanipi, Waskaganish, Eastmain, Wemindji, Chisasibi, Whapmagoostui and the Hydro camps of Nemaska, Rupert and EM1. The Cree population is approximately 18,000 within the Cree Territory of Eeyou Istchee. The Cree Radio Network is made up of 9 local community stations. The JBCCS Board of Directors is made up of representatives from each of the 9 community stations, along with a representative from The Nation magazine and a Youth Representative.
Beyond this initial information, we consider ourselves communicators and hub for information and events concerning the Cree territory. We strive to bring the best in Cree broadcasting and to provide our audience with access to a variety of news, weather, entertainment, and cultural news, politics and history.
