The institute builds on the scientific legacy of the Nobel Prize winner, Professor Jaroslav Heyrovský , in the fields related to physical chemistry. Over two hundred scientists, from promising young researchers to world-renowned experts, work on excellent basic and applied research at this public research institution. Theoretically known and experimentally acquired knowledge of physico-chemical processes taking place in molecules and atoms is important for industrial catalysis, energy production and storage, health care and the environment.
ÚFCH JH currently has approximately 216 full-time employees and over 40 PGS students. About 70 percent of the employees are engaged in research, the remaining employees provide technical and administrative services.
Every year, researchers publish more than 200 research papers in international impact journals, several books or chapters in monographs, and a number of papers in proceedings.
In 2019, the Institute joined research organizations with the HR Excellence in Research award, which shows progress in harmonizing our human resources policy in line with the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. We care about our employees.
