The healthtech ecosystem has been rapidly evolving over the past decade in Israel and worldwide, setting the stage for major transformations of the medical landscape, but also pointing at major gaps in the ability of health organizations to exploit disruptive opportunities. The pandemic crisis that swept across the world further emphasized the need for a comprehensive and efficient response to a broad range of related operational and technical but also more fundamental issues, ranging from the integration of advanced technologies in disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention up to reorganization and optimization of medical services. From a broader perspective, this unprecedented situation clearly set the stage for the emergence of a new professional setting.
To meet this challenge, the Israeli Society for HealthTech (ISoH-Tech) was founded under the auspices of the Israeli Medical Association (IMA) and with the support of the 8400 Health Network. The overarching mission of the new society is to lay the foundations of a new discipline aimed at integrating innovation and healthcare entrepreneurship into medical practice and across traditional health professions in order to benefit patients and improve quality of care.
Our one-year fellowship for board-certified physicians, approved by the Scientific Council of the IMA, is aimed at introducing the senior physicians to the Israeli healthtech ecosystem anticipating that they will form a steadily growing number of bridges between healthcare organizations, academy, and industry. The society is also promoting medical and scientific community engagement in healthtech and biomed activities through a series of monthly webinars (MEDabrim) that are designed to cover most aspects of medical innovation, and through various other activities increasing physician involvement and networking in the healthtech arena.
