Island Power S.A. (IPSA) is a Panamanian company owned 50/50 by Eleta and Tropical Energies Corporation (TRENCO), two Panamanian companies with a wide distinguished track record and commitment to excellence, that is focused on innovative power generation with aims of becoming the leading off-grid utility solution in the region.
IPSA started with the operation of the Pearl Island Power S.A. (PIPSA) power plant, to supply electricity to the Pearl Islands Archipelago in the Republic of Panama and was later awarded the concession to supply electricity to eighteen (18) small and micro grids in Panama until 2030. For this concession, it began operations with the communities of Puerto Obaldía and La Miel in 2018. These projects are expected to serve over 17,000 users located in indigenous island communities in the Guna Yala, Darien and Panama Provinces.
IPSA aims to have a positive impact by substituting conventional hydrocarbon-based power generation for hybrid systems incorporating cleaner and more renewable technologies (solar PV, batteries, wind power or LNG) to reduce carbon emissions. In addition, we incorporate cutting edge technology to monitor the plants in real time and provide unparalleled quality of service to our customers.
